August has been a rather eggcellent month for us as we have been officially presented with our Queen’s Award for International Trade for Outstanding Short-Term Growth in overseas sales.
We want to say an enormous thank you to everyone who has bought a ChickenGuard door and supported us on this amazing ride.
The presentation took place at our headquarters, in Fulbourn, near Cambridge – and was attended by almost 40 individuals, including members of staff, mentors and third-party suppliers.
Here is our founder Ben, receiving the Queen’s Award
The special reception saw our founder Ben Braithwaite receive The Queen’s Award for Enterprise 2019 and citation, by Her Majesty’s Lord Lieutenant of Cambridge, Julie Spence, OBE. The Deputy Lord Lieutenant of Cambridge, Mr Chris Parkhouse, and the Mayor of Cambridge, Cllr Gerri Bird, were also in attendance.
It was been a tumultuous journey over the last six years and this award embodies the spirit of teamwork that goes into producing our innovative, world-leading chicken coop automatic door.
To celebrate the award members of the ChickenGuard team embarked on their own eggsciting journey of discovery earlier in the day and had their feathers ruffled in a classic chicken and fox race – albeit on water rather than land!
Staff were taken on a wild trek down the River Cam, courtesy of the Cambridgeshire punt!
Throughout the epic journey, on choppy waters and through almost horizontal rain, our intrepid flock of hens were pursued by a cunning fox. Thankfully the pecking order was maintained throughout, with our brave and adventurous flock safely returning home to the coop, in true ChickenGuard style.
Along their route, the chickens and fox provided entertainment for many locals and tourists, who were on hand to capture the unique spectacle for posterity and share around the world!
Wherever you are in the world, we’d love to hear how ChickenGuard doors have made a difference. Please feel free to get in touch on our Facebook profile.
